The Principle of Character: Daily I choose to identify and eliminate character flaws and fortify my character strengths.

Removing character flaws from our lives is sometimes a difficult process. There are many reasons why we may choose to hold on to a character flaw in spite of the pain and turmoil it causes in our lives. Here are 3 of the biggest reasons:

  1. We don’t view it as a character flaw. 
  2. We are unaware of it.
  3. We think it will be too painful to remove it.

Sometime there are pressures from family, friends and co-workers to take a course of action or make a decision that will have horrible consequences for you and those you care about. It’s in these moments that you will make or break your character! It is in these moments that trust will be developed or broken. It’s in these situations and circumstances that you will uncover who you really are and who you want to be.

Character is what happens when nobody is watching. It’s easy to do the right thing when all eyes are on you. What happens when nobody’s watching, though? Do you continue to do the right thing even though it’s difficult or do you choose the easier, less difficult route? Be honest with yourself!

We need to focus on our character every single day; always working to eliminate our character defects while building and developing our character strengths. When we stop focusing on these objectives and making them a daily part of our lives we begin to fall back into old damaging patterns.
