The Principle of Forgiveness & Reparations: Life is substantially improved when I forgive others promptly and seek forgiveness for my wrongs. I also need to make reparations for all harm done. A difficult problem faced by many people who have practiced this program is deciding on how to make reparations for past harm done. It is easy to admit you were wrong. It is easy to say, “I’m sorry.” But how do you make it right? |

The Principle of Character: Daily I choose to identify and eliminate character flaws and fortify my character strengths. Removing character flaws from our lives is sometimes a difficult process. There are many reasons why we may choose to hold on to a character flaw in spite of the pain and turmoil it causes in our lives. Here are 3 of the biggest reasons: - We don’t view it as a character flaw.
- We are unaware of it.
- We think it will be too painful to remove it.

The Principle of Confession: I need to confess my weakness and misbehaviors to myself, God and another trusted confidant. Many people who go through our program find this fundamental difficult. Not that the others aren’t; remember that anything worth having takes courage, hard work and discipline. This fundamental though is unique in the fact that you are exposing all of your weaknesses and faults to God (who already knows everything we have already done or thought) and another person. |

The Principle of Daily Renewal: I need to take daily note of my actions, reactions and beliefs. Daily renewal is a difficult process for many people. It involves sitting down and reviewing your past, whether it is the past 24-hour or the past 24 years. It involves honesty and discipline. It takes the courage to face the harm that you have or may have caused. It takes a real leveling of your pride and ego. It takes the strength and commitment to make things right and admit that you were wrong. It lifts people up and shows them you care. |
